Charleston HeARTs Refugees: #NoBan Event

Liberty Square
340 Concord St
Charleston, SC 29401
United States
March 12, 2017,
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Join us on Daylight Savings Day, Sunday, March 12th, to stand in solidarity with our local refugee community – and to raise our voices and demand that the US allows continued refugee resettlement nationwide. We will come together through art and activism to make a peaceful statement and raise funding to benefit our local refugee resettlement services.

As a peaceful, creative protest, we ask that you join us by creating a piece of resistance art that will be held up at the rally – specifically a hand made or illustrated flag of your choosing. Symbolic of the creative melting pot that is America, and in our demand that the USA continue to open their hearts and gates to immigrants and refugees either fleeing persecution or searching for a better life, these flags can be representative of the following ideals:

1. Your version of the American flag as an inclusive, free country;
2. A replication of the flag of your origins (whether you or your family originated from another country); OR
3. A flag with a message of peace and unity.

Following the rally, we hope that you will consider personally “auctioning” off your flag creation via your Facebook page. The proceeds of your sale can then be directed to our GoFundMe donation page, with all proceeds going directly to support South Carolina’s refugee resettlement services via Lutheran Services Carolinas, South Carolina chapter.
