The need for this event arose out of a desire to learn more about intersectional feminism in Middle Tennessee, specifically as it pertains to race, racism, and white supremacy. Following Trump's election, many white women have been energized and inspired to take action politically. While their energy has been welcomed, it has also sometimes felt erasing and exclusive of women and people of color. We know that in order to win, we have to work together, and that means shedding white supremacy and working in true solidarity. This event is intended to elevate and center the voices of black women and people of color, not white women, but also allowing white people a space to learn and grow without judgment.
