A Day Without A Woman - Madison

In support of "A Day Without a Woman - General Strike" (also International Women's Day), we will not be going to work... But we WILL be hosting an experiential morning of education & activism focused on the young girls in our lives (K-5th grade). We will be taking our daughters/granddaughters/nieces, etc. out of school on March 8th for an alternative day of learning at the Madison Capitol. (Maximum attendance is 35 girls. ITINERARY of Activities:
(Please wear RED as a sign of solidarity!)

** 8:45am: Meet in the Tour Orientation Center located in the Southeast basement of the Capitol (through the metal doors beneath the grand stairs on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.)

** 9:00am: Tour of the Capitol which will be kid friendly and will highlight the contributions of women in WI politics.

** 10:00am: Meet and speak with three influential women in WI government; State Representative Chris Taylor, State Representative Dianne Hesselbein AND Supreme Court Justice Shirley Abrahamson!!!

** 10:45am: Participation in a patriotic craft activity & a fun mock voting experience.

** 11:10am: Our girls will assume the "role" of the FIRST female WI Governor (or President!) and discuss a law they would pass to improve our world. (There will also be a quick photo op in their important position. :)

** 11:30am: We will make our own parade around the Capitol with flags, enthusiasm and increased knowledge about our government.

** 11:45am: Snack break (Please pack a little something to eat if you will be staying for the next portion of the event - the rally.)
