Michigan's citizens are subject to some of the most restrictive voting laws in the country. As a state we consistently rate at the bottom when it comes to government transparency and ethics. Do these seem like problems to you? They do to us!

So we invited one of our favorite Michiganders --Jocelyn Benson -- to come speak with us about ways other states have made it easier for Americans to vote (such as no-reason absentee voting, early voting, and automatic registration), ways to make that vote more meaningful (like redistricting reforms and campaign finance reforms), and how to fight back against voter suppression. She will also take your questions.

Jocelyn Benson was the Democratic candidate for Secretary of State in 2010, is the author of "State Secretaries of State: Guardians of the Democratic Proces, co-founded the Military Spouses of Michigan, formerly was the Dean of Wayne State University Law School, currently is the CEO of the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality, and she runs marathons, is a mother, and wife. Basically, she's Wonder Woman! Jocelyn is fighting for voting rights in Michigan and nationwide and wants to work with you to continue the fight. Join us to learn more about how you can help!
