An Evening For Standing Rock

MVMNT Studio

March 11, 2017,
6:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Join us for an evening of ally training, story telling, music and dance showcases. We are raising $3,000 to support the indigenous struggles of Standing Rock as well as locally with the Ohlone People of the Bay Area, so if you can't join us in person you can still make a donation!

Native members from the Bay Area will bring us information from Standing Rock. In addition, we will learn about the local efforts being done to protect native land in the Bay Area and ideas about how we can best be allies. Learn the importance of understanding the history of the land and people in both where we live and where we travel. This evening is also an opportunity to hear from native speakers and build relationships for continued support and solidarity.

Location: MVMNT Dance Studio, Berkeley
Date: March 11th (6-10pm)
Cost: $20 presale, $25 at the door suggested donation. (Proceeds will be split between: Withstand With Wolves and IPOC-Indian People Organizing for Change)

WWW Mission Statement: Withstand With Wolves is a collective dedicated to keeping the movement alive that started at Standing Rock. There are numerous fights over clean water and Native rights happening all over the world. We are here to withstand police brutality, environmental injustices and racism against Native and Indigenous people and to resist further damage to our Grandmother Earth.

IPOC Mission Statement: Indian People Organizing for Change is a community-based organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its members, including Ohlone tribal members and conservation activists, work together in order to accomplish social and environmental justice within the Bay Area American Indian community. Current projects include the preservation of Bay Area shellmounds, which are the sacred burial sites of the Ohlone Nation, whose homeland is the San Francisco Bay Area.
