General Strike: Clinton

198 College Hill Road
Clinton, NY 13323
United States
February 17, 2017,
12:00 pm to 6:00 pm

How to participate in a General Strike:
1) Don't go to work. If you absolutely must, take advantage of any employer comittment to community service. If you can't, join in a local action during lunch break.
2) No shopping, no banking.

Change happens by communities, and within community. We are stronger together, not just together ideologically or metaphorically, but physically.

This is a local action in solidarity with the Unpresident's Day strikes across the country (http://f17strike.com/). The general demands for this strike are to show our local representatives that they must stand up to unconstitutional violations of human rights. All are welcome to join a Speak Out to share stories, listen to others, sing music, conduct teach-ins, and express oneself.

Planned speakers will share their voices at the expected peak times of 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., but much of the time will be open mic. Drop in when you are able and join us for as long as you can.

We must be clear in our opposition. We must be clear in our comittment. And we must scale up nationally, while fighting locally.

"More important than focusing on a single event or a single mode of opposition, [Francine Prose] said, is to view every event broadly as a practice and preparation for the next move." - Deutsche Welle
