This four (4) hour training for counselors meets the requirements setforth by LARA. With this training, 50% of profits will be donated to a Metro Detroit non-profit anti-human trafficking agency, Night Angels, and the other 50% will go to the Michigan Counseling Association (MCA) to help advocate for and further educate counselors in Michigan after expenses.

The clinical part of this training is co-presented by Veronica H Visger, MA, LLPC, NCC, Jessica Ross, PBC-FI, LLPC, NCC, and Jessica Couch, MA, LPC, NCC.

Veronica is also the Professional Development Chair of the Michigan Counseling Association. In addition to her work as a licensed clinician and counselor advocate Veronica has been on the front line helping current human trafficking victims to feel loved and safe on the streets of Detroit for over three years now. She has experienced the joy and hope in a human trafficking victims heart and face when they are no longer enslaved and are set free. Her passion for helping her community, both professionally and personally, are contagious.

Jessica R is a practicing psychotherapist and psychometrician at Sher Psychiatry in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Jessica is a member of the Professional Development Committee for the Michigan Counseling Association and a member of the Membership Committee for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Other affiliations include ACA, APA, MMHCA and CSI. Jessica has a history of working with law enforcement, forensics, and within the therapeutic community. Through her work and endeavors she has provided assistance to both human trafficking survivors and those that battle both severe mental health and substance abuse. Jessica loves working with both the human mind and heart and finds that any voice can be heard if only we choose to listen.

Jessica C graduated from Oakland University’s Master of Counseling program with a specialization in school counseling in 2009. She went on to complete a second specialization in Mental Health at Oakland University in 2013. Jessica's previous professional experience includes working with at risk children and families in the government sector, along with working under a multimillion dollar federal grant as a program coordinator, promoting wellness in local schools. She also has previous experience working within a psychiatric and substance abuse treatment facility. She is currently the executive director and a clinical psychotherapist at Wellspring Therapeutic Partners in Clinton Township, and provides supervision to limited licensed professional counselors. Jessica is also working with the University of Minnesota under a Department of Defense research grant designed to strengthen and support local military families in the Selfridge area.

Night Angels, a non-profit anti-human trafficking agency in Metro Detroit, will also be co-presenting sharing their experience as abolitionists and advocates locally, regionally, and state-wide.
Your registration fee makes you an abolitionist for a day, but hopefully for a lifetime, after learning about this modern day slavery in our backyards. Together we can make a difference in our communities!
