DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is a vital protection for nearly one million DREAMers, young immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children and are working to make better lives for their families.
We cannot silently stand by as harsh immigration policies are underway to deport millions of hardworking DREAMers and DACA recipients, many of whom are part of the Planned Parenthood community -- they are our supporters, patients, and staff. We stand united against canceling DACA and all other white supremacist attacks. There are 800,000 DREAMers-- 21,000 in Pennsylvania alone--that we as Americans will protect.
When communities that already face barriers in accessing health care are driven further into the shadows, they will forgo the care they need to preserve their own safety and economic security for their families. That’s bad for their health and for the public health of their communities.
If DACA is revoked on Tuesday, we will hold Congress accountable on Wednesday. We demand that Congressman Shuster do right by DREAMers and immigrant families, and work to immediately pass a lasting solution that puts a path forward to legalization.
