Why should the workers of Michigan have to choose between our health and our family's economic security? Over 1 million people in Michigan do not receive paid sick time. This ballot proposal would require each worker to receive 1 hour paid sick time in return for 30 hours worked. That's the least we can do in working toward economic justice in our state.
Planning on meeting at Espresso Royale for a drink and short training. Then we can meet people and grab signatures for paid sick time. By doing this, I have found that some people assume all workers already received paid sick time. Working in food service, we never had paid sick time. Most minimum wage jobs do not provide paid sick time. Those are the workers who can not afford to take a day off when they are ill!
