Even before the Cheeto in Chief, the Islamophobic Countering Violent Extremism Program (CVE) came to town with talk of "Jihadi cells" and "ground zero for terrorism" criminalizing an entire community. The documentary film "RESIST" tells the story of our local Somali community fighting back against demonizing narratives that institutionalize Islamophobia. We'll share excerpts from this new film in production, live speakers, and light refreshments. The event is to raise money to support this important documentary. Meet the filmmaker. Meet some of the community members featured in the film. Meet activists on the front lines of the struggle. And learn how you can help. This evening is designed to introduce potential allies to the ways that our local Muslim community is being targeted (especially the youth), it is an opportunity to learn directly from those targeted about what they need from their "allies." This is a good place to learn and connect, because we need to RESIST together!
