Special International Women's Day Film Showing
SCHOOLIDARITY

Celebrate the struggles of working-class women by viewing this powerful documentary about political/corporate attacks on public education and public sector workers. The film interweaves the stories of two significant labor struggles in which women and workers of color played a major role: the riveting 2011 fight by public employees in Wisconsin, and the long battle by Chicago teachers for quality schools and union democracy, culminating in the 2012 teachers strike. Women, especially women of color, were the backbone of these movements that brought together workers, parents and community activists. Participants discuss the importance of militant tactics and union democracy, and critique the role of the Democratic Party. Open discussion will follow the 90-minute film.
