For more than two decades, Selma has commemorated the anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the March from Selma to Montgomery, two events which led to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Throughout history, black women have been instrumental in gaining civil rights for all Americans. They have worked to gain the right to vote in the Suffrage Movement and were asked to march behind white women. They worked to gain civil rights in the Civil Rights Movement and were asked to march behind black men. Now, black women are leading the way to change and are asking allies, “stand WITH us or stand BEHIND us.”

Flint, MI is an American city facing its own deeply troubling racial inequality that boiled over most recently into the Flint Water Crisis. It’s in this city that Michigan will come together -- joining thousands of marchers across the country -- to stand in solidarity with Selma and to push back against Flint’s loss of civil rights and the right to clean, safe water.

Join thousands of influential women across the country in the fields of politics, entertainment, education and entrepreneurship as we discuss what’s occurring in our great nation, and how we must respond. We will hold Republicans accountable, while putting Democrats on notice.

We are calling people of all genders, races, ages, backgrounds and interests to join our fight against tyranny and oppression!
