Although protest and civil disobedience will always have their place in our vibrant democracy, after Trump’s first 100 days, we must unite to develop cohesive, organized, and well-planned-out strategies and demands going forward. This free, public community forum and discussion is to continue laying the groundwork for developing these strategies and connecting with community leaders in an open, grassroots, and community-driven manner.
We will have 4 facilitated breakout groups for the community discussion portion, after hearing briefly from speakers: candidate recruitment, coalition building, messaging, and platform development. The most successful protest movements do not simply fizzle as the headlines shift, but rather transform themselves into a powerful, unified force which will be perpetually able to run serious candidates and make real, substantive change at the state, local, and national level.
This work, particularly in the Pikes Peak region, will be difficult. The deeply-entrenched reactionary establishment does not wish to concede one inch, but we will not cease until the Pikes Peak region works for all its residents, not just wealthy campaign contributors and the shady organizations they bankroll.
