Erie County’s 2017 races were a proving ground for resistance activism and the battle between public interest and personality politics. Some races were marred by racially divisive tactics and out of district financing of smear campaigns.
Progressive candidates closed the gap in historically Republican districts and were victorious in Amherst, Hamburg and Tonawanda. But there we’re also some heartbreaking second place finishes.
We will hear from Tolbert GOTV volunteer powerhouse Katrinna Martin, first-time Erie County District 10 Legislature candidate Michelle Schoeneman, and first-time candidate and Cheektowaga Town Councilmember-elect Brian Nowak. Discussion will be lively but productive. There will be special guests.
