Demba Bagayoko is an Ann Arbor resident who has lived in this nation for 15 years. He went to school in New York and has lived in Ann Arbor for the past 6 years. He was taken from his home at 9 in the morning by ICE disguised as police last month, and since then we have been organizing to get him out of detention and back to his life.
Demba is being held at the Battle Creek detention center in Calhoun County. He is more than an hour away from his home in Ann Arbor. He was previously being held in the Monroe County detention center, and was moved farther away in order to isolate him from his friends and loved ones.
We are organizing to his first hearing, which will be to see if he is given bond. It is imperative that we come out tomorrow and show our support for Demba, as he deserves freedom and we must stand and fight against ICE attacks that rip apart communities, homes, and families.
