Even though 2017 is drawing to a close, things are far from cooling down in Washington D.C.One major priority for Congress over the next few weeks is finalizing a national budget - if they don’t the government will shut down in early to mid December. However, the budget that the Trump administration and US House have put forward are full of cuts that will have grave impacts for Coloradans, especially to our healthcare and environment.

Colorado gets a lot of funding from the federal government, and because of specific stipulations within our state constitution, we can’t just raise funds to backfill the losses proposed within these major federal budget cuts. To help you get a better sense of what’s at risk for Colorado and what we can do about it, we’re partnering with the Colorado Fiscal Institute (CFI) and Colorado Consumer Health Initiative (CCHI) to take a deeper look at the budget and how the proposed cuts would specifically impact our healthcare system, energy and climate action, transportation, and economy.
