May 1st has historically been a day of protest and celebration of the people that work everyday to make our country strong. In Bridgeport those workers are mainly immigrants that have come from many places in the world to find a good life in our city. Ironically, over the past few months our representatives have refused to vote in favor of a resolution that would welcome and protect those same immigrants.
For this reason, on May Day Bridgeport commuunity members and allies are coming together to form one strong voice in favor of a community that is inclusive of all of its members. This day we will meet on the McLevy Green at 4:00pm and will march to City Hall (45 Lyon Terrace) were there will be a City Council meeting. This day we expect the City Council will be considering the Sanctuary City Resolution, if they don't we will be there to hold them accountable for hurting our community with their innaction.
