Capitol Day 2017

9:30 am to 3:00 pm

2017 has been a year of open rebellion and it's only April! People in unprecedented numbers are taking to the streets to oppose racism in every form and demanding that their voices be heard over those of corporations. The people of Michigan have proudly led the charge. So far, this energy has been focused on Washington DC. Now is the time to turn it inward towards Lansing where we have the most leverage.

Each year, Michigan United and the Michigan People's Campaign hold an event called Capitol Day. This is an opportunity to gather in the state's capital to take a quick look back at the year's accomplishments before pushing ahead into the challenges we now face: the increased threat of deportation, the poisoning of our air and water and our children being herded into prison. We'll meet with our state representatives to tell them our stories and present positive solutions. Michigan United is also launching an exciting new campaign called Universal Family Care to make child care, elder care, and paid family leave accessible for everyone in our state. And of course, there will be a powerful direct action. We hope you will join us and we hope you will bring your friends, family and neighbors with you.
