Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and nine other states have threatened a legal challenge to DACA if President Trump does not rescind the program by September 5th. President Trump is weighing an immediate end to the program, we are anticipating a decision from the President on September 5th. With the potential loss of work permits and deportation protections for over 17,000 Coloradans, and a potential loss in yearly GDP of over $850 million for the state, elected officials and advocates push for a humane solution that supports Colorado’s youth and economy.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program created by President Obama in 2012. DACA has provided so many young people with career opportunities and the ability to follow dreams otherwise unavailable. Taking away DACA is an attack on DREAMERS, an attack immigrant rights, and an attack on youth in our communities. It not only takes away dreams and careers, income and stability, but it puts these young folks at risk of deportation.
The DREAM Act a bipartisan bill has been introduced in the Senate that would provide a permanent solution for our immigrant youth. We are calling on Senator Cory Gardner who has not yet come out in support of the DREAM Act to sign on to this bill. We are asking that people drive calls to Senator Gardner demanding that he come out in support of the DREAM Act.
Please join Northern Colorado Dreamers United, along with CIRC members and community across Boulder County to show your support for this program.
