Show and to send the message loud and clear at the Freeholder's meeting - Hudson County stands with immigrants!
The 287(g) agreement between the Hudson County Dept. of Corrections and the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may be renewed. This agreement is well known for its hurtful impact on immigrant communities. It denies immigrants due process rights, funnels them into detention and deportation and tears apart vulnerable families.
Last Wednesday, County Exec Tom DeGise gave a State of the County address in which he defended the County's 287(g) program. In doing so, he made several false claims including that 287(g) prioritizes only people convicted of very serious offenses.
Now is the time for us to STAND TOGETHER. Come to the County Freeholder meeting on Thursday to show our opposition to the 287(g).
