On October 23rd, 92 of the world's largest banks will meet in São Paolo to discuss policies on the climate and Indigenous People's rights to Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC). Mazaska Talks is calling on indigenous people and allies everywhere to mobilize a global day of action that make it clear to the banks that financing climate disaster and the abuse of Indigenous Peoples will result in a massive global divestment movement.
Here in DC, we will be meeting outside the DC City Council Building to demand that our city divest from Wells Fargo and reinvest in our communities. Big banks, developers, and fossil fuel companies threaten our communities here in Washington, DC. Together, we have the power to regain control over our neighborhoods, environment, and finances. Join us to call upon the DC Council to divest our local tax money out of Wells Fargo and invest in us — in our access to healthy food, justice for indigenous land, affordable homes, safe drinking water, clean energy, and a just financial system.
