Equal Women's Education March

In the spring of 2015, Michelle and Barack Obama founded Let Girls Learn, which brings together the Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Peace Corps, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Millennium Challenge Corporation as well as the U.S. President’s Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief to address the range of challenges preventing adolescent girls from attaining a quality education that empowers them to reach their full potential. Let Girls Learn combines the necessary political will, diplomacy and development expertise to create lasting change. The program aims to change the perception of the value of girls at the individual, community and institutional level.

Recently, it has been announced that the current presidential administration has plans to completely eradicate the program. Although it has been denied by the White House, Trump has already begun to remove Michele's healthy school lunch program; it may not be fully removed, but it is very likely to not remain the same, so it is up to us to educate the community about the importance of equiping girls to make life decisions and important contributions to society.

Now more than ever, we need to recognize the challenges that adolescent girls face in pursuing education. Join us on Saturday, June 17th, 2017 to show our community the importance of equal education access for women around the world! We will convene in Moonlight Beach, march down the Pacific Coast Hwy until K Street, and walk back to Moonlight on 3rd. Bring your friends, family, peaceful signs, and of course, your enthusiasm!

Women's education should not be negotiable!
