The Healing walk Napa Valley begins as a reflective, peaceful pilgrimage through our beautiful Valley, rooted in the indigenous philosophy of invoking sacred space to heal the land and its people. This year we walk in solidarity with the People's Climate Marches in DC and throughout the world. The walk is interfaith, intergenerational, and intercultural, with the goal of cultivating appreciation and respect for Napa Valley's watersheds and wildlife and supporting policy that ensures their protection. The walk culminates in an Oxbow Commons rally with speakers and ceremony.
There are several options for participation in the events of the day.
Join us in Yountville at the Veterans Memorial Park at 8:30 am for a brief opening ceremony and water blessing. We depart at 9 am for a 5-mile Healing Walk along the Vine trail to Las Flores Park in Napa.
Or Join the Healing Walk at 11:30 at Las Flores Park in Napa. Walkers will take a brief lunch and restroom break. At Noon we will depart on the final 4-mile leg of the Walk.
Or join the walkers at 2pm at Napa Veterans Park and walk with us across the river to the final gathering place at Oxbow Commons.
At Oxbow Commons, there will be an indigenous drumming ceremony and prayer dances, short talks on local watershed and climate justice issues, and an interactive art project.
Please wear blue and/or green to honor water and life. Bring some water from your home watershed area to add to our water-carrying ceremony. We will have a blessing ceremony and will carry the mingled water on the walk.
Also please bring a refillable water bottle for drinking, and remember comfortable shoes, hat and sunscreen. Bring a lunch if you plan to walk the distance with us.
There will be support vehicles providing rides and restroom access along the walks.
