Join AF3IRM SF Bay Area at the 32nd Annual Empowering Womxn of Color Conference (EWOCC) at UC Berkeley for our workshop entitled:
"Immigration, Imperialism, & Insurgency! The Cycle of Political Trauma & Organizing for Liberation."
This workshop will provide a general history of US imperialism, as it relates to immigration, while noting the particular impacts on transnational women of color.
With this foundational knowledge, we will go on to explore gendered immigrant trauma, the cycle of political trauma, and ways people have cared for one another by organizing and resisting xenophobic oppression & exploitation.
By demonstrating the connection of intimate trauma and imperialism, we unsettle psychology and forge a critical, compassionate politic. "The personal is political" was never meant to be an individualist slogan.
By grounding ourselves in this critical consciousness, we will come together to exercise our radical imaginations. Through discussing our histories, plus past tactics and strategies, we can inspire creative ideas for continuing the legacy of intergenerational care & fight for collective liberation. We will need each other in these times of Trump-era neo-fascism.
