International Women's Strike: Albany

Townsend Park
Albany, NY 12210
United States
March 8, 2017,
11:30 am to 1:30 pm

What are we striking for?:

We are coming out to advocate for policy changes that will make workplaces more equitable and accessable to all women.
We demand:

- to recieve equal pay for equal work!
- free childcare and universal pre-k to help make working a feasible option for women with children.
- an end to clothing/hair based discrimination in the workplace that politicizes women's bodies. This includes African American women being told their natural hairstyles are not 'professional' enough and women muslim women being discriminated against for their choice to wear head coverings. How we choose to clothe our bodys are no ones business but our own!
- to empower women to make their own choices regarding their reproductive health (and NOT HOBBY LOBBY!!!)
- to ensure that transgender individuals can live as their true gender without fear of being passed over for a promotion or losing their jobs.

Where will we be?:

Conveniently located in Townsend park on Washington ave right by Henry Johson.

What will we be doing?:

We'll be out on the sidewalk making our voices heard and networking with other a variety of other local social justice organizations. It's time that we all got together to grow our strength. We will also have sign up sheets for those who want to participate in organized calling campaigns with us. Come out and lets make it happen!!

ONLY TOGETHER WILL WE OVERCOME! EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS TRUE EQUALITY FOR ALL WOMEN IS WELCOME!!
