This event is intended for Legal Observers, those interested in becoming Legal Observers, and activists/organizers who would like to have LOs at future events. The agenda includes:
1) A brief review of the history and goals of the NLG Legal Observer program
2) A general update and discussion of the state of the NLG-MN LO program, the challenges of adapting to today's movement dynamics, and our goals for improving capacity and communication to meet the needs of our community
3) Breakout discussions for LOs, those who want to become LOs, and community organizers who want LOs at their events
4) Establishment of baseline procedures and expectations for requesting LOs, communicating those requests to participants, and on-site coordination
Our objective is to improve internal and external lines of communication, clarify our program goals, and address questions from the community -- all so that we can more effectively support Minnesota activists at a time of increasing mass resistance and likelihood of police repression. We hope that this will be the first in a series of regular events to help our program grow with and continue to meet the needs of our partners in resistance.
Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Please share widely within your communities.
