Crissy Canganelli and Casey Cook examine “Housing in Johnson County”
Crissy Canganelli is the Executive Director of Shelter House since 1998. Her leadership has transformed the Shelter House from an organization offering a roof and a bed to one that offers comprehensive supportive services, two social enterprises, and permanent supportive housing all with the intention of moving people beyond homelessness. She is chair of the Johnson County Local Homeless Coordinating Board, a founding and current board member of the Housing Trust Fund of Johnson County, the Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition, and chair of the Policy and Planning Committee of the Governor-appointed Iowa Council on Homelessness. She has received numerous awards and recognition. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Masters in Urban and Regional Planning both from the University of Iowa.
Casey Cook has been in the real estate business since 1977 and has been a commercial appraiser since 1983. He has provided expert testimony throughout central and eastern Iowa. Mr. Cook is the past president of the Iowa Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He also served on the Iowa City Planning and Zoning Commission and co-founded the Friends of the Iowa River Scenic Trail (FIRST). He earned a B.A. in economics from Oberlin College, an M.A. from the University of Iowa in Urban and Regional Planning, and holds the MAI designation from The Appraisal Institute.
