Following the recent mass murder in Florida, student activists from Parkland have organized a nation-wide March For Our Lives. On Saturday, March 24, students from across the country will organize and rally together on street corners, public parks, schools, and capital steps to demand reforms on our nation's laws regarding firearm purchases and ownership. This event, entirely planned, organized, and led by local students in the Tri-Cities region, is our generation's demand for more from our local, state, and federal legislators. If you are in the Tri-Cities area, we want to invite you to join us in making our voices heard and demanding more from our elected officials. The official march will begin at 1:30PM on the corner of University Parkway and State of Franklin (across from McDonald's). Marchers are invited to begin gathering and lining up at 1:00PM. The march will conclude at Borchuck Plaza in the heart of East Tennessee State University's campus, with a rally and guest speakers from 3:00-4:00PM. At this time, the final route and rain plan are being finalized. We will share these details and a map for the march route as they are confirmed. If any community organizations, non-profits, or other outside groups are interested in tabling at the rally, please send an email of interest to gravessl1@etsu.edu
