March For Science: Wilmington

4412 Lake Ave
Wilmington, NC

April 22, 2017,
10:00 am to 12:00 pm

This is a family friendly, pro-science, pro-art, pro Wilmington celebration!

We will gather at 11 am Saturday for a rally in the Roland Grise Middle School gymnasium with music provided by Kudabai and speakers from the community. We want to pack in as many disciplines as possible while limiting the standing around time. We want to leave to start walking towards Hugh MacRae Park by about noon. We'll end at the Earth Day Festival at Hugh MacRae We are following all the set requirements by the city and county to obtain permits and hire police to help escort us across the street as well as taking out a one day insurance policy to help protect our attendees.

We're asking each speaker to keep their remarks to 2-3 minutes each. We have a few speakers ready: a former high school teacher, a bilingual electrical engineer, the Cape Fear Riverkeeper, a chemistry professor, and the president of the American Psychological Association. In addition, we want to bring in representatives of other local demonstrations together.
