Join us for a site-specific performance event that will take over the historic and beautiful Jefferson Market Library, site of New York's (in)famous Women's Prison, with readings of words by fierce and inspiring women from throughout American history: suffragist writings, political speeches, poetry, essays, novels, journalistic reports, plays, recipes, and more. Authors range from Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony to the Women’s Suffrage Cook book to Gertrude Stein to Eleanor Roosevelt and Shirley Chisholm to Octavia Butler, Maria Irene Fornes, Audre Lorde, Gloria Steinem and many more. Our readers are an amazing group and there will be surprise gifts. And refreshments!
