On April 6th, 2017, 100 years after the United States entered World War I, the administration launched over 50 tomahawk missiles at Syria, in an imperialist act of aggression that threatens to drag us into another Iraq War, or worse, another World War.

We do not want another bullshit war, we want people's peace! Every time this happens, innocents die - in "modern" warfare, up to 90% of the deaths are civilians, children included. Then the oil companies, defense contractors, mercenaries and other parasitic corporations come in and profit from these massacres using taxpayer dollars (at least 70 million for those missiles). Finally, the long term economic, environmental, political and moral damage to the world done by destabilizing other countries, destroying their infrastructure and killing their people is beyond calculation.

Thus, the Progressive Youth Organization Kansas City and allied revolutionary groups will march from the WWI Museum to City Hall to show that we do not want another war where the rich win and the people (of all countries) lose. We will meet at the Museum at 5, and after some speeches, begin marching down to city hall.

And to be clear: It is not our job to support or oppose Assad, only the Syrian people have the right to make that decision and determine the legitimacy and composition of their government. We must let them make that decision free of US intervention.

Finally, we must not just fight against this war, but the corrupt system that inevitably lead to wars for profit - capitalist imperialism. As long the wealthy and powerful bourgeoisie stand to gain from pointless violence, wars like these will keep being ignited - not only internationally, but even here at home. PYO-KC aims to build a movement to resist this greed.
