Ocean Springs, MS elected officials have let the world know where they stand, and it is on the side of hate groups and white supremacy. For months, Ocean Springs residents have asked for one very simple thing: the flag of white supremacy, racial terrorism and discrimination, slavery and lynchings to be removed from our city's public properties.
We value the safety and dignity of every person equally, and despite the calls from faith leaders, economic and tourism agencies and Ocean Springs citizens to remove the flag, our elected officials continue to act against the best interests of our citizens and our City. They have strategically resisted acting in the best interests of our citizens at every turn, becoming the ONLY board of elected officials in the state to pass a resolution requiring the flag to be flown on municipal properties after it was removed from City Hall.
We invite all Mississippians who stand for equality and the best interests of our City and State to join in a march to City Hall as a united citizenry against white supremacy and hate.
