April 29th will mark the 100th day of this administration and around the world people will take stock of what this new period in our nation’s history looks like. On that same day, we will gather in a massive and unified March for Climate, Jobs and Justice.
Momentum is building to bring a unified and clear message directly to Congress and the White House: we will not sit by quietly as you assault the air we breathe, the water we drink, the very planet we live on! We will not watch you tear apart our communities, turn away refugees or immigrants, undermine the rights of workers or trample the gains of the social justice and peace movements of the past 50 years.
In Sept. 2014 the Peoples Climate Movement put more than 400,00 people into the streets of NYC. That event showed the world how far the climate justice movement had come and it helped make way for the Paris climate accords. And now, despite Trump stacking his cabinet with climate deniers and fossil fuel cronies, with generals and billionaires, our movement is bigger, broader, more diverse, and more empowered than ever before.
On Long Island, we've been hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and we continue to be imperiled by the rising seas but we're already fighting back. We're at the forefront of New York's clean energy economy with our abundant offshore wind resources and we're coming together to enact our vision for a renewable future.
