On April 29th, we will march for our families. We will march for our air, our water, and our land. We will march for clean energy jobs and climate justice. We will march for our communities and the people we love.
With their insatiable profit motive, the petrochemical industry is destroying our health, stealing our land, and poisoning our water. The Trump administration and Republicans in Congress are on a runaway train to line their pockets at the expense of our health, our safety, and our planet. It’s on us to create an alternative future.
The March for Climate, Jobs, and Justice is just one step towards building a long-term grassroots movement to protect the hard-won protections of our climate, health, and communities, and the rights of people of color, workers, indigenous people, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA, young people, the struggles for justice and peace and more. But it is a start.
The March will end at Communitopia's FutureFest 2017 on the front lawn of Phipps. FutureFest features a glimpse of the world of tomorrow through art, demonstrations, performances, science and hands-on activities for all ages — from scavenger hunts to craft stations. A large, free public festival, FutureFest 2017 is the result of collaboration between several stakeholder organizations, led by Communitopia, working across different sectors, with the same goal of celebrating and promoting Pittsburgh’s vision of an achievable, sustainable future.
