First we marched. Now SWMO NOW will harness our collective energy to participate in the kick-off of the Women's March national#PowerToThePolls voter registration tour to register new voters and elect more women and progressives.
On Friday, Jan. 19 we'll be at Sisters In Thyme Bistro and Bakery from 6-8 p.m. And we're asking participants to stop by anytime in that timeframe to pick up the materials you'll need to register new voters. Get your questions answered, go through a brief training, and even get an assignment on where to go to register folks if you're unsure. We've pinpointed ripe locations all over 417-land.
Over the next 24 hours, try to register as many new voters as possible! Throw on your women's empowerment t-shirts to show everyone that you're more than a marcher–you're taking meaningful action to realize our goals. If every person that attended the Springfield Women's March registered just 2 or 3 new voters, we could literally change election outcomes!
Then, on Saturday, Jan. 20, join is for a come-and-go event wrap-up celebration from 7-10 p.m. at Queen City Wine Dive. All participants will turn in their new voter registration paperwork and we will revel in our accomplishments with drinks, eats and fellowship!
Women’s March chapters and affiliated groups are organizing exciting, state-specific anniversary events all over the country, from marches to legislative actions to community events to voter registration drives. We chose a voter registration effort because we're ready to put in the work to make a more meaningful difference. Let's show them that women are not backing down and beat them where it counts--the grassroots.
