Puget Sound Energy (PSE) markets itself as a "green" utility, but it's actions tell another story: PSE IS A FOSSIL FUEL COMPANY.
The utility's most recent long-term plan reveals that PSE intends to operate its dirty Colstrip coal plant—the largest source of carbon pollution in the Northwest—for the foreseeable future. PSE is also bulldozing the Puyallup and local community to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Tacoma and plans to lock WA into fossil fuels for decades to come by vastly expanding its fracked gas infrastructure over the next ten years.
PSE’s addiction to fossil fuels, particularly fracked gas, is shocking for the thousands of PSE customers, businesses, and cities demanding more clean energy. But PSE CEO Kimberly Harris is also chair of the American Gas Association, a fossil fuel advocacy group pushing new fracked gas plants and pipelines around the country despite grassroots opposition.
