The system is letting our seniors down. A national problem is playing out right now in our fair city and Cross Street Village Seniors who are counting on living out their lives in peace are being forced to move. All because the owner of this subsidized housing building, and the recipient of many tax benifits, is going to change the building to market residency rates.
Some of the residents are already having to move due to rent increases. Being forced to move in your 80s or 90s, with limited resources, and not enough available subsidized housing is painful, expensive, and harmful.
Using the system this way is hurting many good people. In the next three years alone, 20,000 senior people in SoutEast Michigan will be in the same situation. This is unethical and our tax dollars are paying for this shameful and unethical situation.
Come stand with our Seniors. Help us bring attention and action to this problem NOW! Join with the residents of Cross Street Village, and our leaders as we say Save Our Seniors!
