Nov 2nd is the 2-year anniversary of former Mayor Murray's 'State of Emergency' on homelessness, but the inhumane and ineffective strategy of sweeps is still continuing.
We can stop the sweeps this year, before winter comes, and tax big business to build housing & fund services instead, but that change will only come if we unite and demand it.
❇ Come to the public hearing and RALLY at City Hall at 4pm. Tell the Mayor and Council: "Do your job! Stop the sweeps & provide bathrooms, sharps collections, and trash cans for encampments, and tax big business to fund truly affordable housing and social services!"
❇ Join us for a one-night, family-friendly, well-stewarded campout at City Hall to show the politicians we're serious in demanding real solutions to homelessness. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, and stories of homelessness, displacement, and activism to share. Hear from our homeless neighbors, religious leaders, and more with all-night teach-ins.
❇ Supply drive: We’re launching a supply drive to help rebuild encampments that have been decimated by the sweeps, so that folks can make it through the winter. We need blankets, tarps, and many other things
