This year on Tax Day, Americans are organizing across the nation to protest the economic agenda of the Donald Trump administration, at a level of national coordination last seen in January's highly successful Women's March on Washington.
This movement's goals include:
1. Protesting widespread income inequality.
2. Defending the essential programs that make up our social safety net, such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
3. Speaking out against Trump's proposed tax cuts for the already wealthy.
4. Opposing the president's use of executive power to enrich his own donors and companies that he has or has had a financial stake in, such as the builders of the Dakota Access Pipeline and Keystone XL Pipeline.
5. Standing up against regressive policies like Trump's recent hike on insurance premiums for FHA-backed mortgage loans, which has already increased costs for lower- and middle-income home buyers.
6. Demanding that Trump fulfill his campaign promise to release his tax returns and prove that he does not have any unconstitutional conflicts of interest.
Earlier this year activists around the country came together to put on the largest organized protest in American history, and if we work together we can break that record again. We hope to see you out in Market Square, sending a loud and clear message that this administration's regressive agenda does not represent the Seacoast's values or America's values!
