On Monday at 6pm, we will gather to honor the lives of all Syrians killed in the ongoing violence in Syria since the Syrian revolution against Bashar al-Assad’s dictatorship, which began in March of 2011 and was inspired by the millions of people that rose up against regimes from Tunisia to Egypt to Bahrain.

What started off as nonviolent protests became bloody as the Assad regime began a violent crackdown against the uprisings. For the last six years, Syrians have been killed by the Assad regime, Russia, the US, ISIS, and other counterrevolutionary aggressors. This has not only created one of the most devastating refugee problems in the world, but also an incredibly large death toll.

We refuse to erase the agency of Syrians struggling for liberation, no matter how many actors are working against them. We join together in solidarity to support Syrians struggling for dignity, freedom and justice.
