Open Doors for Refugees is a local groups that helps refugees make a home after moving to the Madison area. They work with the 2 refugee resettlement groups in Madison, Lutheran Social Services and Jewish Social Services. In 2017, these groups plan on helping about 160 refugees come to Madison and make a new home here.
On May 21st, they are having a Community Celebration Picnic, to bring members of the community together. In their own words, "Come celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity we share. Connect with refugees who are making their home here and some of the many people who welcome them. Enjoy great food, games, music and more."
They are looking for several volunteers to help in a variety of areas throughout the event. Even if you can only come for part of the event, please consider helping. This is a great opportunity to meet some wonderful people and give back to our community.
